Committee objectives
1. Audit and Risk Committee
Council’s Audit Risk and Improvement Committee is established in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993, and supports good corporate governance by the provision of independent objective assurance and assistance to the Council on:
• Compliance
• Risk Management
• Fraud Control
• Financial Management
• Governance
• Implementation of the Strategic Plan, Delivery Program and Strategies
• Any other matters prescribed by the Local Government Act and Regulation.
2. Floodplain Risk Management Committee
Floodplain Risk Management Committees help Council manage flood risks and help to develop Council’s Floodplain Risk Management Studies and Plans as outlined in the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023).
3. Local Traffic Committee
The purpose of the Committee is to make recommendations and provide advice to Council on the technical aspects of proposals to regulate traffic on local roads within the Singleton Local Government Area (LGA) prior to Council exercising its delegated authority. In making its recommendations and providing its advice, the Committee is to consider only the technical merits of a proposal and ensure that the proposal meets current technical guidelines. The LCT membership is composed of four formal members from council, NSW Police, TfNSW and the local State Member of Parliament or their nominee.
4. Roads Advisory Committee
The Committee considers recommendations relating to road safety and parking issues across the Singleton Local Government Area (LGA). These recommendations are subsequently forwarded to Council’s Ordinary meetings for consideration and adoption.
5. Singleton Aboriginal Reconciliation Committee
The Committee was established to provide advice to Council to encourage, facilitate and support the development of Reconciliation initiatives for the Aboriginal Community in the Singleton Local Government Area.
6. Singleton Arts & Culture Advisory Group
The Committee was established to assist Council in the delivery of the Arts and Culture Strategy 2020-2030 and to promote and celebrate the arts, culture and heritage groups and individuals in the community.
7. Singleton and District Disability Advisory Committee
Singletons Disability Advisory Committee provides advice and support on how we can improve the wellbeing of people with disability and their carers. The Committee plays a pivotal role in making sure people with disability have access to programs and services. The committee strives to ensure accessibility is front of mind when it comes to Council decision-making.
8. Singleton Heritage Advisory Committee
The Singleton Heritage Advisory Committee (SHAC) has been established to educate the community and provide Council with advice on heritage related matters.
9. Singleton Interagency Committee
The working group is established to advise the Interagency on areas of focus regarding homelessness. Any proposals from the working group, supported by Interagency will be reported to Council for consideration and endorsement.
10. Sustainability Advisory Committee
The Sustainability Advisory Committee shares information, promotes community awareness in enhancing the collective impact of Council and community-led programs and initiatives to foster a just transition to a zero carbon, zero waste and climate-resillient municipality.
11. United Wambo VPA Community Committee
The United Wambo Voluntary Planning Agreement Community Committee (the Committee) will be a sunset Committee established to assist Council in engaging with the community to implement the Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA).
12. Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame Committee
