ReSmart

You’re eligible to receive FREE doorstep collections for hard-to-recycle items as part of the ReSmart program. All Singleton residents can dispose of two regular size bags (or 60L) worth of tricky items on a recurring basis*.

As a community, we've already diverted almost 11,000kg of recyclable material from the landfill through ReSmart! 👏💛♻

Why should I ReSmart recycle?

There are many reasons why recycling with ReSmart is a positive action for your household:

 Environmentally

Sorting and diverting recyclables helps to keep valuable resources in use and reduces the impacts of waste on our community and environment by:

  • decreasing waste to landfill
    - particularly hazardous wastes like batteries and vapes that are often the cause of landfill fires
  • reducing the need for raw materials
  • saving energy
  • lowering pollution and litter

Local Fact:
Plastics and vape products are among the highest littered wastes collected at Clean Up Australia Day each year in Singleton.

 Socially
  • By simply choosing to recycle one new waste type (i.e. soft plastic), we can work together as a community to make a positive difference.
  • Leading by example helps others in the community feel comfortable and confident in their ability to join in and recycle too.

Local Fact:
To date (March 2026), a total of 689 households in Singleton are registered for ReSmart and have collectively diverted 10,985kgs of recyclable material through the program! 👏💛♻

 Economically
  • by diverting one recyclable waste (i.e. soft plastics) to ReSmart you can free up space in your red bin and decrease your households waste to landfill -  potentially saving additional Domestic Waste Management fees for weekly servicing ($185 in 2025/26) and making fortnightly general waste servicing more easeful.
  • Landfill fires come at a significant cost to Council and Emergency Services resources. Diverting hazardous wastes like batteries and wastes help to avoid this type of detrimental outcome.

Local Fact:
ReSmart is free in Singleton! Simply sort your recyclables and pop them out by the front door or mailbox for monthly collection.
