Join us for an evening with former Newcastle Knights NRL player Alex McKinnon as he talks about life off the field after a life-changing spinal cord injury.

In 2014 at the age of 22, the up-and-coming NRL player suffered a devastating spinal cord injury that left him a quadriplegic.

Confronted by the inability to walk, use his hands, or perform everyday ‘normal’ activities, Alex was suddenly facing unimaginable challenges.

With the world watching, Alex made a commitment to break the ‘why me?’ mentality and make the most of his situation, proving that it’s possible to reinvent and achieve quality of life – personally and professionally – following a life-changing injury.

Now a father to three daughters, Alex recently completed a bachelor of Psychological Science at the University of Newcastle and is a contributor for Fox Sports’ NRL coverage.

You won’t want to miss this inspiring talk from the well-known football personality and disability advocate in Singleton as he shares his personal experiences, insights into living with a disability and how we can all strive to be more inclusive in our everyday lives.

This evening is open to all ages. Tickets cost $30 which includes a three-course meal (entrée, main, dessert) and live music by Matt McLaren.

Also launching on the night will be Singleton Council’s Beyond the Divide podcast. The all-new podcast features conversations with people connected to Singleton’s disability community highlighting the issues that affect them and showcasing the value of their contributions to our town.

Tables seat 8 people. Up to 8 tickets can be purchased in one transaction.
