What do you love about your community? What improvements could make it even better?

Singleton Council is encouraging everyone to be part of the 2023 Australian Liveability Census to provide your views on what makes your neighbourhood great, as well as share your big and small ideas for what could make it an even better place to live.

The Census aims to capture all your thoughts about your neighbourhood, from the quality of footpaths and open spaces to sustainability and protection of the environment to ease of parking.

Vicki Brereton, Council’s Director Community and Organisation Capacity said all the information from the Singleton local government area would come back to Council to be incorporated into local decision-making.

Everyone who completes the survey also has the chance to win one of 50x $100 gift vouchers.

“The Australian Liveability Census will give us a unique insight into what people value in their local community, whether it’s parks and open space, connectivity to shopping and employment, community services or simply the appeal of the streetscape,” she said.

“Social data is often overlooked for demographic information such as gender, age and income to identify a community. This 15-minute survey is a great opportunity to gather qualitative information and for people to rate their neighbourhoods, as well as provide their ideas – big and small – for how their local area could be improved.

“All the information collected from the Singleton local government area will come back to Council to give us a greater insight into what our residents want and to help guide future decision-making.

“The information will also inform national and State planning investment strategies and provide Council with an even more solid foundation for grant and funding applications.”

The 2023 Australian Liveability Census is open until 30 June 2023.
