After naming the 80th and 81st inductees to the Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame in 2024, the search is on for individuals, organisations and families with a connection to Singleton who have achieved State, National or international acclaim in their field of endeavour to add to the pavers this year.
Nominations are open from Friday 5 September to Friday 3 October 2025 in the categories of Arts, Science and Education; Community Service; Sport; Public Service; Business, Industry and Tourism; and Meritorious Family.
Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore said since the Hall of Fame was established in 2009, a long and illustrious list of people, organisations and families had been immortalised on the footpath between Singleton Civic Centre and Singleton Public Library.
“The Wambo Coal Singleton Hall of Fame is one of the highest honours our community can bestow, and is a great way for everyone in our community to celebrate the hard work, achievements and dedication of our fellow residents and those with a strong connection to the Singleton local government area,” she said.
“That’s why if you know anyone who has reached the pinnacle of their industry, profession or pursuit, or who simply goes out of their way to make life better for our community, I wholeheartedly encourage you to submit a nomination.
“It’s simple and easy to nominate online, or Council will gladly post a paper nomination form to you.”
Two new pavers were laid on the Hall of Fame in 2024, recognising the Northern Agricultural Association and the Australian Army Infantry Museum. The highest number of inductees occurred in 2019, with an astounding 12 names added.
“The Wambo Coal Hall of Fame is a wonderful partnership between Council and Wambo Coal, and one that continues to inspire and encourage our community now, as well as up-and-coming generations,” Cr Moore said.
“The Singleton community is full of dedicated volunteers, passionate community workers, innovators and sporting heroes who elevate Singleton on the regional and national stage and I look forward to seeing who this year’s inductees will be.”
Nominations close on Friday 3 October 2025. The inductees will be announced at a special ceremony on Thursday 20 November 2025.
