Following on from the success of last year’s event that attracted more than 300 attendees, the Singleton Careers Expo is back for the second year on Wednesday 6 August from 1.30 – 6pm at Singleton Civic Centre.

The Expo is a key initiative under Singleton Council’s Skills and Employment Program funded by the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program, to provide a community hub for jobs and skills information and to support Singleton people to better access employment opportunities within the local government area.

Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore said the Skills and Employment Program already has a track record of delivering tangible outcomes for individuals through hands-on training in hospitality and construction that has given people the skills and connections to employers that they need to achieve their career goals.

Council is partnering with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Training Services NSW, Workforce Australia and Business Singleton to host the free Expo.

Cr Moore said the event aims to broaden the reach to cater to school leavers, mature workers, career changers and individuals re-entering the workforce to explore local job opportunities, find up-to-date career information, access training courses and workshops, and so much more.

“Following feedback from the 2024 event, this year has been structured to be friendly to high students to come along from 1.30pm, and general jobseekers after school hours,” she said.

“Participants can gain valuable insights, access support services and discover resources to navigate their career journey by exploring local job availabilities, accessing training and workshops, networking with potential employers, and practical assistance with resumes and interview techniques.”

More than 45 stallholders representing a wide range of industries will be in attendance to talk to people about career pathways and opportunities both now and into the future.

Cr Moore said as the region entered an era of economic transition, the Expo was also a great way for people to learn more about emerging and growth industries.

“Participants can gain valuable insights, access support services and discover resources to navigate the next steps in their career journey, whether they’re starting out, looking to start a new chapter or pursuing a career change,” she said.

“Most importantly, there’s tangible assistance for people to explore local job availabilities, access training and workshops, network with potential employers, and get practical assistance with resumes and interview techniques.

“Kids activities and light refreshments will available.”
