Life could be a beach in Singleton: survey

Published on 20 September 2021

With lockdown lifted and a mere two weeks to go in the Create Singleton 2032 engagement program, there’s still time for everyone to help set the vision and direction for the Singleton local government area for the next decade.

And with survey QR codes now accessible from some of the busiest footpaths and cycleways in residential areas and community vision boards available to everyone at the newly reopened Singleton Library, it’s easier than ever to get involved.

There’s been a great response from across the community to dream big, with about 2,000 interactions to date at workshops, drop-in events, surveys, social media and activities across the LGA over the past five months – before and during COVID-19 restrictions. Some of the responses have been expected, like the need for the Singleton bypass to be built as soon as possible and to support the growth of the tourism industry, and some more outlandish suggestions including a beach for Singleton’s town centre.

Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore said whatever your idea, everyone’s insights are extremely valuable.

“With just two weeks to go, we want to hear from as many people as possible. That’s why we’ve installed decals on popular footpaths and cycleways in high-density areas – so if you are out and about, I encourage everyone to scan the QR code to jump onto the survey to leave feedback,” she said.

“Plus with the Library reopening to residents of our LGA this week, there’s a range of activities you can get involved in ‘in real life’ – share an idea on a Post-It note on our community vision board or take part in ‘Dotmotcracy’ and indicate what priority areas Council should focus on.

“All the information we receive will help set the vision and direction for Singleton for the next 10 years, as well as inform Council’s actions for the next term.”
