Important information about red bin collections
Since the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) service was introduced on 30 June 2025, we’ve received numerous calls and emails regarding red bin collections and requests for the provision of additional collections.
We understand the change to bin collection schedules has resulted in missed red bin services for some residents because the bin was not placed on the kerb in the new collection week. We also appreciate that this will make waste management difficult for residents in the short-term.
Due to collection schedules and resourcing for trucks and drivers to complete daily runs, we unfortunately cannot provide additional collections outside of our usual collections as requested by some residents.
In line with a Mayoral Minute to be presented to Council’s ordinary meeting on Tuesday 15 July 2025, rural residents may dispose of up to 240L of general household waste (standard red bin size) at Singleton Waste Management Facility at no charge from today, Thursday 10 July 2025, until Friday 18 July 2025.
Rural residents presenting to Singleton Waste Management Facility will be required to provide proof of residential address to confirm they are a rural resident of the Singleton LGA.
If you’re in an urban area and have opted in for a weekly red bin collection, please note that requests require 14 days to process. You’ll receive email updates as your application progresses through the process and be issued with a sticker for your red bin before your weekly service will commence.
The weekly red bin service charge is based on a pro rata basis and will be reflected in your next rates notice.
