Free program aims to build stronger, more resilient businesses

Published on 12 October 2021

From one-hour webinars to three-month professional mentoring programs, the Singleton Business Builder program has been developed to support Singleton businesses at all lifestages to grow and rebuild in the wake of a range of impacts including natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Run by Singleton Council and funded by the NSW Government’s Resources for Regions program, Singleton Business Builder will kick off this month with a webinar on Tuesday 26 October 2021 appropriately called Rebuilding Your Singleton Business.

Council’s Director Organisation and Community Capacity Vicki Brereton said it was a great introduction to what is to follow, including mentoring, coaching and training for businesses  covering:

Rebuilding stronger business top tips webinars

  • Business improvement and activation coaching program
  • Marketing foundations
  • Building a stronger customer base
  • Business foundations for start ups
  • Business support advisors

She likened the program to a building renovation or repair where some businesses might take the opportunity to upgrade after experiencing damage, others may undergo a complete renovation with a new business plan or a new business model, and others still might just need a simple repair such as a chat with a business advisor.

“We know the past couple of years have been extremely challenging for our local businesses, and we wanted to look at how we could provide practical support for every kind of business at any stage and in any situation to start, rebuild, grow and thrive,” Ms Brereton said.

“The result has been a mix of webinars, one-on-one coaching and – if COVID restrictions allow – face-to-face events covering a range of topics from developing a business plan to reconnecting with customers.

“What’s even better, each program is delivered by business experts and they are free to any Singleton business to get involved.”

Singleton Business Chamber president Sue Gilroy said the program recognised the importance of small businesses to supporting the local economy, and more importantly to bringing the community back together after the latest COVID lockdown.

“These are practical programs providing support and assistance for businesses at any stage and in any situation, whether in crisis or thriving as a result of the impacts of the past few years,” she said.

“I encourage our local businesspeople to get involved in the program and hope they achieve the results they want to benefit their own businesses as well as the wider community.”
