Declutter, recycle, and rehome: bulk waste collection returns this Nov
Published on 14 October 2025
Singleton households are being encouraged to get a head start on their spring cleaning ahead of Council’s annual bulk waste collection service, which runs from 3 November to 12 December 2025.
The service provides all households that receive a domestic waste and recycling collection with one free kerbside pick-up of bulky items, helping residents clear out unwanted goods while keeping Singleton safe, tidy, and sustainable.
Katie Hardy, Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure and Planning Services, said this year’s focus was on making the most of recycling and reuse opportunities before putting items on the kerb.
“From our free mattress and tyre drop-off days, to recycling problem household waste at the Community Recycling Centre, or registering with RecycleSmart for doorstep collection of tricky recyclables like soft plastics – there are so many options available to residents before bulk waste even begins,” Ms Hardy said.
“When you’re doing your spring clean, think about donating or selling items such as furniture, bikes, toys or décor through charities, Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree or eBay. It all helps reduce waste to landfill while giving your unwanted items a second life.”
Ms Hardy said Council is also once again supporting Garage Sale Trail, running across Singleton on 8–9 and 15–16 November 2025.
“It’s not only a great way to bag a bargain, but also a national movement to extend the life of products, reduce landfill and bring communities together – and it’s free to take part,” she said.
The six-week 2025 bulk waste collection schedule is as follows:
- Week 1 – from 3 November: Singleton, Redbournberry, Fern Gully, Combo
- Week 2 – from 10 November: Darlington, Dunolly, Singleton Heights
- Week 3 – from 17 November: Gowrie, Hunterview, Maison Dieu, McDougalls Hill, Rixs Creek, Wattle Ponds
- Week 4 – from 24 November: Branxton, Belford, Lower Belford, Obanvale, Pokolbin, Whittingham
- Week 5 – from 1 December: Big Ridge, Bridgman, Camberwell, Clydesdale, Dalwood, Dyrring, Elderslie, Falbrook, Glendon, Glendon Brook, Greenlands, Hebden, Lambs Valley, Leconfield, Liddell, Middle Falbrook, Mirannie, Mitchells Flat, Mount Olive, Ravensworth, Reedy Creek, Roughit, Scotts Flat, Sedgefield, Stanhope, Westbrook, Goorangoola
- Week 6 – from 8 December: Appletree Flat, Broke, Bulga, Doyles Creek, Dural, Fordwich, Glennies Creek, Glenridding, Gouldsville, Jerrys Plains, Hambledon Hill, Lemington, Long Point, Milbrodale, Mount Thorley, Warkworth, Wylies Flat
Residents are reminded to:
- Place items on the kerb only in the week before their collection date
- Separate waste into two piles: general waste and scrap metal
- Keep within the two cubic metre limit per household
“Our bulk waste collection always proves popular, but we need everyone’s help to keep our streets safe and tidy during the six weeks,” Ms Hardy said.
“Rangers will be patrolling to ensure items are placed correctly and on time. Waste put out early or items that don’t meet requirements may be treated as illegal dumping and attract a fine.
“Also given the size of the collection across the local government area, contractors may occasionally run into the following week to complete pick-ups in some suburbs, so we ask residents to be patient, and rest assured your items will be collected.”
Items not accepted in the collection – such as electronic waste, paints, oils, batteries, and fluorescent globes – can be taken to the Community Recycling Centre at Singleton Waste Management Facility.
While mattresses aren’t collected at the kerb, residents can drop off up to four for free at the Mattress Muster on Saturday 22 November from 9am–1pm at the Waste Management Facility.
