Internationally acclaimed crime writer Michael Robotham will bring his heart-stopping brand of storytelling to Singleton Public Library in an extra special event on the Singleton Speakers program this month.

The twice winner of the prestigious UK Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger Award for best crime novel will talk about his latest offering, The White Crow, as well as shed some insight into his writing process when he meets with readers on Thursday 24 July from 5.30 – 6.30pm.

Dwight Graham, Singleton Council’s Director Corporate and Commercial Services said the event was a rare opportunity for fans to meet with one of their favourite storytellers.

“Michael Robotham’s books are always very popular, and we have a big selection in our collection to keep up with demand,” he said.

“I know plenty of our members are lining up to read about the return of Police Constable Philomena McCarthy in his latest book, and I hope they’ll take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to step out beyond the pages to meet with the creator of some of their favourite novels.

“Crime writing is a fascinating genre, and we’re really excited to welcome a writer of Michael’s calibre to the Library to learn more about the stories behind the stories.”

The Singleton Speakers series continues to climb in popularity with a prestigious list of writers clambering to visit Singleton to talk about their work as well as meet with booklovers.

Historic fiction writer James Seymour, author of Turner’s Awakening and Rage, will also be at the Library on Friday 25 July from 1.30pm to 3pm, followed by Sophie Green talking about her latest book, Lessons in Love at the Seaside Salon, on Friday 22 August at 11.30am.

Award-winning bush poet Carol Heuchan will also share and perform some of her unique poetry pieces on Saturday 9 August from 1 – 2pm.

“If you haven’t been to an author talk at the Library before, Michael Robotham would be a fantastic writer to start with,” Mr Graham said.

“Even better, all of our author talks are free, although bookings are encouraged. You can book a free ticket via the Library’s Eventbrite page or Facebook page, or head into the Library for more information.”
