There’ll be plenty to splash about this summer with an all-new $1.5million water play attraction at Singleton Gym + Swim to be delivered just in time for the Christmas school holidays.

A splash pad will replace the existing outdoor toddler pool at the facility including spray jets, slides, fountains and interactive water play elements that Singleton Council General Manager Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr said would take cooling off to a whole new level.

Construction will get underway on 31 July 2025, with completion slated for November 2025.

Upgrades to the car park worth more than $400,000 will also be completed in a separate project, following on from improvements to the male, female and accessible change rooms that will be ready to use this month.

“Singleton Gym + Swim is an important recreational facility for people of all ages who use it for a range of different reasons, from keeping fit to cooling off,” Mr Fitzpatrick-Barr said.

“Based on feedback from our community and the need to address ageing infrastructure, Council is investing more than $7.5million in improvements that will deliver a facility the people of Singleton deserve.

“We’re particularly excited about the splash pad because it’s a new feature for our local government area, and one that we know will be a hit with children, young people and the young-at-heart.”

Both the existing toddler pool and the carpark were identified as having reached the end of their serviceable lives. While the splash pad is under construction, the carpark will also be resurfaced with new line marking, signs and bollards to match the existing layout, and new solar-powered lighting installed in what is expected to be a month-long project.

The carpark works will begin in the coming weeks and are expected to take four weeks to complete.

“Singleton Gym + Swim will remain operational while these projects are carried out, and care will be taken to be as unobtrusive as possible for users of the site,” Mr Fitzpatrick-Barr said.

“With upgrades to the change rooms complete and a new dome roof for the 25m pool and mechanical repairs still to come, we’re confident this investment means Singleton Gym + Swim will continue to meet the needs of our community for years to come.”
