Community Planting Day 2026
On the 31st of May, around 70 community members came together for a successful planting event along the Hunter River in Singleton, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of local biodiversity.
Participants planted a diverse mix of 500 native trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers, with plant stock supplied by Floribunda Endemics. The planting effort will help strengthen the ecological health of the river corridor, providing important habitat for local wildlife and improving overall environmental resilience.
The event was delivered in partnership with Hunter Bush Regeneration, Singleton Shire Landcare Network, Singleton Men’s Shed, and The Grove Hunter Valley. It was also supported by representatives from several local community organisations, including the Singleton Rotary Club, Hunter Wildlife Rescue, and members of the Singleton Parkrun community.
The Singleton Men’s Shed provided a sausage sizzle, while The Grove Hunter Valley supplied 50 sponsored coffees, both generously supported by the Singleton Shire Landcare Network.
Councillor Dan Thompson also attended the event, showing support for community-led environmental initiatives.
The morning provided an engaging opportunity for participants to learn more about local ecosystems, discuss biodiversity and wildlife, and build stronger community connections, while making a meaningful contribution to the natural environment.
We would like to thank everyone from Singleton and the surrounding communities, along with the wonderful organisations who helped deliver or supported the event on the day, for your contributions in making it such a magical occasion.
