About the Program
1000 Books Before School is designed for children from 0 - 6 and their parents and carers. The goal of the program is to get children to read 1000 books before school, to assist their literacy development and create a love of reading.
Though it might sound like a lot, 1000 books can be achieved in as little as 3 years, if you read 1 book a day. Every book counts, ebooks, or eaudio, Storytime programs in-person or online. Even re-reading books counts towards your goal!
What’s involved?
Chat to one of our staff to sign up, where you will be supplied some resources to help you on your journey. Once you have read a book, log it in the Beanstack app to keep track, or use one of our paper forms(PDF, 2MB).
At each milestone: 100 Books, 500 Books, and 1000 Books collect your medallion to celebrate and add to your Library bag. We also have milestone stickers you can collect every time you read 100 books, to help keep the excitement up!
The program finishes once your child reaches the goal of 1000 books, starts school or turns 6!
