Connect

Connecting with families and friends, neighbours or people in your community, will give you a sense of belonging.

There are so many ways to meet people in Singleton. Spend time enjoying different activities with your family and friends and exploring the experiences that Singleton has to offer.

Ways that you can connect with people include:

  • Go for a walk with a friend and greet the people you walk past
  • It’s better outside! Connection in nature supports our health and wellbeing. Pitch a tent in the backyard for a stress-free backyard campout or head out to Lake St Clair for adventure and fun
  • Organise a family picnic or kids play date in a local Singleton park – use our Park Finder to discover parks close to you and what they have to offer
  • Grab a friend and head to the Singleton Arts and Culture Centre and immerse yourself in the latest exhibition or take part in one of the amazing activities
  • Head to Singleton Library and participate in one of the social groups or programs
  • Get along to one of the many events held in Singleton – family fun days, Australia Day celebrations including Twilight, Firelight, NAIDOC events, or Christmas on John Street
  • Organise to meet an old friend at a café for a coffee
  • With almost 40% of Singleton made up of National Parks and State Forests. What better way to connect than to get the family together and discover our diverse landscape
  • Send a Kindness Card to someone and show your appreciation

Don’t forget connecting with yourself is equally as important as connecting with others.

Slowing down and taking notice helps you to feel calm and relaxed. Learn to enjoy each moment and the small things that make you happy.

Learn to appreciate the beauty around you, look up and around and see the colours of the trees changing with the seasons or listen for birds singing early in the morning.

Try and connect with a few of these suggestions:

  • Take a walk in Rose Point Park, through the nature parkland, along the river and through the sensory garden and immerse yourself in the array of colours, smells and textures
  • Head through the laneways around the town centre, check out the murals, inspiring the imagination
  • Head out to villages around Singleton, take a camera and take time to really notice the colours and textures of what you are photographing
