What is a Save Power Kit?

The Save Power Kit is a box of tools you can use around your home to identify ways to reduce your energy bill. Contained in an easy-to-carry case, the Save Power Kit will help you identify the biggest energy users in your home and ways you can save money on your energy bill.

 

How can I borrow it?

All Library members can borrow the kit for free for a period of one week. Membership to the Library is free and available to everyone. To borrow the kit, reserve it on our catalogue or at our front counter.

  • Thermal camera or infrared thermometer: Find out where heat is lost or gained in your home.
  • Power-Mate Lite: Measure the energy consumption and running costs of your appliances.
  • Thermometer: Ensure your fridge, freezer and hot water are set at optimal temperatures.
  • Stopwatch: Time the flow rates of your showerhead and taps to make sure they are running efficiently.
  • Light meter: Measure your lighting to ensure it is optimal for your home.
  • The kit contains a how-to guide, activity book and handy tips on how you can save power and money on your energy bill!
