Labor’s landslide victory in this weekend’s Federal election means Singleton won’t lose any momentum in addressing issues important to the local community, Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore says.

Cr Moore has congratulated Federal Member for Hunter Dan Repacholi MP on his election to the job for a second term, and said she looked forward to meeting with him soon to tell him in person.

“We already have a successful and productive working relationship with our local member, which has seen the delivery of the $7.2million Alroy Oval redevelopment project that will be completed later this year,” she said.

“And of course we’ll be celebrating the opening of the Singleton Bypass project late next year in a partnership between the State and Federal governments.

“But as Dan knows, there’s always more to do.

“Council has raised a number of issues that require Federal support, including $20million for a replacement water and sewer depot displaced by the Bypass project, and improvements to the intersection of Bridgman Road and the New England Highway.

“The Nationals also made promises for upgrades to the Singleton Regional Livestock Exchange and a new reservoir to ensure water security for our growing community during election campaigning that we hope the Labor Government will take on board.

“We’re very fortunate Dan has a deep connection with the people of Singleton, and we look forward to working with him to deliver the outcomes we need for our community.”
