Singleton Library resources get mobile with virtual launch of new app

In a sign of the times, Mayor of Singleton, Cr Sue Moore will officially launch the new Singleton Public Library app at a virtual event on Thursday 20 January 2022 – and everyone is invited to Zoom in.
The application puts all the Library’s resources on your mobile or any other device, making it easy to renew an existing loan, learn about events and activities, and check whether the Library has the book or item you’re looking for.
Cr Moore said it was the obvious next step in the progression of Library services, which proved to be invaluable as well as adaptable during COVID lockdowns.
The app allows users to:
- search the Library catalogue from anywhere,
- see what’s new,
- reserve items from the Library collection,
- borrow books and other items from the Library collection in the Library,
- renew loans,
- scan a book’s barcode to see if it is available from the Library,
- keep up to date with events and activities happening at the Library,
- check opening hours,
- and more.
Cr Moore said she encouraged everyone to be part of the virtual launch via Zoom at 5.30pm, which would include a demonstration of the app and the opportunity to ask questions and chat to other Library lovers and staff.
“We saw how important the Library service was during lockdowns, and the ingenuity of our staff to act quickly to bring in virtual storytimes and home deliveries to keep our community connected in very challenging circumstances,” she said.
“The new app is a continuation of how we keep evolving to enhance our customers’ experience of the Library and the collection to meet what people need now.
“It would have been great to bring people together in person to launch this amazing tool, but it’s particularly appropriate to have a virtual event to demonstrate the benefits of the app and the myriad ways people can engage with the Library, including remotely.”
