Community knowledge and resilience will be put to the test in Get Ready Singleton: Disaster Dash – a fun-filled, interactive game that’s all about teaming up, thinking outside of the box, and having a blast while facing down local hazards.

Hosted by Council and presented by acclaimed arts and game designers Boho Interactive, Disaster Dash will challenge teams to craft strategies and make pivotal decisions to navigate a variety of local disaster scenarios at Singleton Civic Centre from 6 – 8pm on Tuesday 9 July.

Aaron Molloy, Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure and Planning said Disaster Dash has been tailormade for the residents of Singleton and offers a unique blend of entertainment, future planning, and community spirit.

“This is your chance to ensure the safety and prosperity of Singleton by addressing specific, local hazards and opportunities that our LGA could face over the coming decades in a light-hearted, game-like setting,” he said.

“The scenarios have been created based on local expertise and scientific modelling and span the very possible, from more floods to mass blackouts, to the more out of the box like a coal prank sparking a modern-day gold rush or conspiracy theorists pouring into town after a grainy photo of a mythical creature in Lake St Clair goes viral.

“Disaster Dash is about challenging your creative and strategic thinking, learning about disaster risk reduction but more importantly, having fun.

“It’s a truly unique way to spend your evening with friends and family and best of all, it’s free to attend.”

Disaster Dash is for participants aged 15 and over. Finger food and drinks will be provided during the game’s interval.
