At its meeting of 15 September 2026, Council resolved to exhibit the the Draft Enforcement and Compliance Policy on public exhibition and invite community feedback for a period of 28 days.
Community feedback is open until Tuesday 20 October 2026.
The Draft Enforcement and Compliance Policy has been developed to modernise Council’s approach to compliance by introducing a clearer principles-based framework, strengthening alignment with the NSW Ombudsman’s Model Compliance and Enforcement Policy and providing more detailed guidance on investigations, risk-based prioritisation and enforcement decision-making.
The purpose of this policy is to establish clear guidelines for the management of Council’s regulatory activities and the implementation of enforcement action. This policy sets out how Singleton Council will deal with compliance and enforcement that will facilitate the effective achievement of the regulatory goals of each of the Acts it has responsibilities under in a manner that is:
- authorised by law
- procedurally fair
- accountable and transparent
- consistent and
- proportionate
The Policy is available for viewing in hard copy from the following locations:
- Council’s Administration Building: Cnr Queen Street and Civic Avenue, Singleton
- Singleton Visitor Information Centre: Townhead Park, New England Highway, Singleton
- Singleton Public Library: 8-10 Queen Street, Singleton
