Following feedback on the draft Broke Crown Lands Plan of Management from 9 February – 26 March 2026, the community is invited to an information session on Monday 17 August at Broke Community Hall from 6 - 7.30pm to cover what feedback was received and key changes to the final draft document.
The draft Broke Crown Lands Plan of Management covers 20hectares of Crown land managed by Council and encompassing McNamara Park, Stewart McTaggart Park and Herbert Park in the heart of Broke and will guide the management and use of these areas for the next 10 years and beyond.
The information session is an opportunity to hear from the consultant who drafted the Plan and Council staff about the future of the site under the provisions of the draft Plan, as well as ask questions before the Plan is presented to Council for adoption late this year.
During the public exhibition period, a community drop-in information session was held and eight formal submissions were received. The information session on 17 August will respond to key issues raised including:
- Use of the park for camping and caravanning
- Expand measures to prevent unauthorised vehicle access around the Bicentennial memorial and that camping/caravanning is not permitted in proximity to this feature
- Amend the McNamara Park Masterplan to adjust the southern end/entry of the spine road westward away from the Wollombi Street/Milbrodale Road corner to a new T-junction with Milbrodale Road
- Note the existence of the unmade section of Ellis Street road reserve and provide for Council to add this area to McNamara Park if/when the opportunity arises.

A Plan of Management is required under State legislation to guide the future management of a public open space asset that is managed by Council.
