The tradition of folding 1,000 origami cranes, known as senbazuru, is believed to grant a wish or bring good fortune. We’re hoping to fold over 1,000 cranes as a powerful symbol of hope, peace and unity. The finished cranes will be added to Newcastle’s Unity Tree and displayed at Newcastle City Library on 2 December.

This free workshop will cover origami (folded paper) and kirigami (cut paper). You’ll learn to fold origami cranes and can help add feathers to our larger-than-life birds. We encourage you to write your hopes and wishes for the future on the wings or feathers of your cranes.

If you have any access or inclusion needs, you can let us know when booking.

This is for all ages!
