Review of Singleton Land Use Strategy
What is happening?
In 2008 the Singleton Land Use Strategy was adopted by Singleton Council and endorsed by the (then) NSW Department of Planning. Since preparation, the 2008 strategy has guided Council's development of the Singleton Local Environmental Plan 2013 (LEP) and it's consideration of requests to amend the LEP.

The 2008 strategy has facilitated rezoning of approximately:
  • 202ha of R1 General Residential Zone land;
  • 32ha of R2 Low Density Residential Zone land;
  • 3ha of B1 Neighbourhood Centre Zone land;
  • 68ha of B5 Business Development Zone land;
  • 123ha of R5 Large Lot Residential Zone land;
  • 83ha of E2 Environmental Conservation Zone land;
  • 662ha of E4 Environmental Living Zone land;
  • 65ha of RE1 Public Recreation Zone land;
  • 21ha of RE2 Private Recreation Zone land; and
  • 277ha of IN3 Heavy Industrial Zone land.

The NSW planning system and the Singleton LGA have changed and evolved since 2008. The time has come to prepare an updated land use strategy, which better reflects current circumstances.

The new strategy will contain policy directions and an action plan and help guide future amendments to the Singleton Local Environmental Plan and Singleton Development Control Plan (DCP). It will be built on a strong foundation of consultation, development trends analysis, population statistics and focussed strategic work.
