Donations will be accepted from Monday 27 November 2017 until Friday 15 December 2017 and distributed to local support groups and charities to assist them in providing support to local families.
“Christmas is a special time of year to celebrate with all the people we love and indulge in food and gifts,” Cr Moore said.
“But unfortunately the festive season can be a tough time for some of those among us.
“The Mayoral Christmas Appeal has become a tradition for Council and the community to join together to make sure everyone in our local government area has a joyous holiday season, and has been well supported in previous years.
“I encourage residents and businesses to be generous - every gesture of goodwill, large or small, adds a little cheer to what may be a difficult time for some people in our community.”
Christmas On John Street will be held on Friday 24 November 2017 from 5 p.m, with the official opening at 6 p.m. Fireworks presented by YanCoal will take place at 8.30 p.m.
