Singleton Council announces nominees for Australia Day Awards

Singleton Council is pleased to announce the nominees for the 2018 Australia Day Awards.

The Awards of Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever of the Year recognise outstanding achievement that advance the values we share as Australians - like a fair go, democracy, participation, good citizenship and diversity.

Citizen of the Year: This award is presented to the citizen judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to the Singleton Local Government Area during the previous year and must be 26 years or older on 26 January 2018.

Patrick Quinn

Valerie Smith

Young Achiever of the Year: This award is presented to the Young Achiever of the Year judged to have been the outstanding achiever during the previous year. Nomination for this award is open to all residents of the Singleton Local Government Area and they must be 16 to 26 years of age on 26 January 2018 to be considered for the award.

“It’s great to see so many outstanding members of our community recognised with a nomination for an award,” Singleton Mayor Sue Moore said.

“The Australia Day Awards are a fantastic way to honour the hard work and dedication the people of our community put in to make Singleton a better place.”

This year’s Australia Day Awards will be presented at an official ceremony on 26 January 2018 at the Singleton Civic Centre from 9.30 a.m.
