In a further demonstration of Singleton Council’s reinvigorated approach to risk management, General Manager Jason Linnane has been appointed to the Board of Management of Statewide Mutual.
Statewide Mutual is Australia’s largest local government self-insurance pool with 118 member councils, including Singleton, and works with NSW Councils to help reduce their exposure to risk.
Mr Linnane will replace long-serving member and Lake Macquarie City Council General Manager Brian Bell on the Board.
Also the sponsoring General Manager for Hunter Councils Risk Management Team, Mr Linnane’s appointment is recognition of his commitment, understanding and support of the value of sound risk management practices to an organisation’s success.
Mr Linnane said Singleton Council had undertaken significant work in the risk management environment in the past two years and his inclusion on the Board of Management was a reflection of Council’s Integrated Risk Management team and the broader organisation.
“I’m really excited to represent our local government area and the Hunter Region on the board of the Mutual. It’s a terrific opportunity,” he said.
“But more than that, I am very proud of the work we’ve been doing at Singleton Council over the past two years.
“Risk management requires input from every member of our staff and the results we’re seeing right across our organisation are testament to a lot of hard work.
“We are fortunate to have what I consider as the best Integrated Risk Management team in local government and I have no doubt we will continue to grow to be an industry leader in the risk management space.”
