Local sporting organisations set to benefit from more than $68,500 with applications now open for Singleton Sports Council grant
Singleton sporting clubs and associations can now apply for a share of $68,500 for local projects via round one of Singleton Sports Council’s dollar-for-dollar grant funding program.
Each year, Singleton Council recognises the important contribution sporting organisation make in developing and maintaining programs and facilities in the local community, and Council’s Director Planning and Infrastructure Services Group Justin Fitzpatrick-Barr said local clubs should take full advantage of the dollar-for-dollar program, which was crucial in supporting Council’s commitment to help maintain and improve sporting facilities.
“The Singleton Sport Grants Program seeks to achieve Council’s objective of ‘Singleton is a creative, vibrant, inclusive, safe and health community’ by providing financial support to eligible organisations for projects,” he said.
“Funding can be used to purchase small items of equipment, minor repair work or upgrades, hosting events or assist with planning, professional and application fees.”
Mr Fitzpatrick-Barr said while local sporting clubs needed to be affiliated with the Singleton Sports Council to apply for the grant, a simple application form was available on Council’s website and new members would be able to apply for a share of the fund.
"We recognise the importance of local organised sport to the health and wellbeing of our community, as well as for social interaction which has never been better demonstrated than during COVID-19,” he said.
“Each year, the demand for funding is always high and each round we have tough decisions to make. But our selection panel has a breadth of experience in our community, and together we strive to make sure the funds are put to the best use possible.
"I whole-heartedly encourage all sports clubs in Singleton who are members of the Singleton Sports Council to take a look at the guidelines and apply so we can assist you in continuing to provide your valuable service to our community.”
Applications for the Singleton Sport Grants close on 23 October 2020.
