Community representatives encouraged to get active

Residents are being scouted to go into bat for sport across the local government area, with seats open for community representatives on the Singleton Sports Council bench.

A committee of Singleton Council, nominations are now open until 28 March 2020 for Singleton’s peak sports body for residents who wish to play a key role in promoting, strengthening and advocating for sport.

Mark Ihlein, Council’s Director Planning and Infrastructure Services, said community representatives would join with sporting clubs and Council to play an active role in developing local facilities and enhancing sport in Singleton.

“Sport plays an integral role in community life in Singleton and the Sports Council is a collaborative forum that acts as a sounding board to Council and other tiers of government,” he said.

“Delegates on our Sports Council play an important role in the future development of facilities and sporting growth across Singleton by working together and assisting Council to advocate for new facilities, equipment and the allocation of grounds.

“The community representatives will work with other sporting club delegates to establish strong links with Council to guide the direction of Council’s sporting priorities and assist with strategic planning and the allocation of grant funding to benefit all sporting clubs.

“If this sounds like you, I encourage you to visit Council’s website to download the Terms of Reference along with the nomination form.”
