Draft Local Housing Strategy

We’re developing the first Local Housing Strategy for Singleton and we need your input to help shape the future of housing in our area for the future.

The final Singleton LHS will set the 20-year vision for housing in our local government area, and outline where and how new homes are best to be developed. The LHS is supported by the Singleton Local Strategic Planning Statement 2041 (LSPS), enabling Council to align the vision of our local area with the housing objectives and targets established in the Hunter Regional Plan.
We all want to live in communities where we feel safe, connected and enriched, and the Local Housing Strategy will provide a long-term, strategic approach to address housing needs, affordability and the diversity of supply across our local government area. The LHS will do this by establishing clear and transparent criteria for identifying land appropriate for future supply, and reviewing our Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan to ensure these are fit-for-purpose.

It’s simple and easy to let us know what you think – complete the short survey online or talk to us at our virtual community workshop between 12-1pm on Wednesday 20 October 2021 (click here to register).
We’ll collate your feedback and make sure your views are considered in the draft LHS that will be publicly exhibited early next year. Once adopted, the 20-year plan will provide the foundation for the provision of housing across our LGA.
