Singleton Regional Livestock Market Upgrade
Restart NSW
In March 2014, the NSW Government announced a $6 million grant under the Resources for Regions program for the upgrade of the Singleton Regional Livestock Market.

The project would include:
  • Construct a new roof
  • Fire Services (Hydrant Main)
  • Electrical services (installation of lighting)
  • Recycled water tanks
  • Access road (Eastern side for fire-fighting access)
  • Swinging gates
  • North Yard fences and walkways
  • External lighting
  • Signage
  • Hydraulic services
  • Water troughs

The anticipated completion date for the project is March 2018.


Status as at 7 August 2017

Contractor Wiley & Co commenced construction work at the site on 26 April 2017.

The demolition and concrete piling in the northern yards has been completed

Work to upgrade the Gresford Road intersection has commenced.

Scheduled for construction in the southern yard is expected to commence at the beginning of September 2017.

The anticipated project completion date is March 2018.


Status as at 20 April 2017

Singleton Council awarded the construction tender for the Singleton Regional Livestock Market Upgrade to Wiley & Co at its meeting on 27 March 2017.

Construction will start in late April/early May 2017.

Sales will continue to be held on Wednesdays as usual during the construction period.

The total cost of the project is being funded by $6 million from the NSW Government under the Restart NSW Resources for Regions program, and a further contribution of $1.73 million from Singleton Council.


Status as at 10 October 2016
Design work is in the final stages and will guide the tender process in early 2017.

Tenders for the detailed design and construction closed on 29 March 2016. In April, Council resolved not to accept any of the tenders and separate the detailed design out from the construction project. Quotations for the detailed design are out to market and Council anticipates awarding the contract in early June.

The contract for the supply and installation of a water main extension from Gresford Rd to the saleyards was awarded to KCE and works began in late May.

3 March - Mandatory site meeting for tenderers for detailed design and construction of saleyards

23 February - Tender open for the detailed design and construction of the saleyards

16 February - Tenders open for supply and extension to the water main between Queen St and Gresford Rd to service the saleyards.

21 January - The Hunter Central Coast Joint Regional Planning Panel approved the development application for the redevelopment, subject to the usual conditions.

2015 timeline
11 November - Development application sent to the Joint Regional Planning Panel for determination

23 September - Public exhibition of the development application ends

25 August - Public exhibition of the development application commenced

29 April - Site visit with the architect to complete the visual impact study

16 April - Development application lodged with Singleton Council

25 November - Pre-lodgement development application meeting held with Singleton Council

6 November - The funding deed with Restart NSW for $6 million was executed

3 July - Singleton Council accepts quotation for concept design from ATLEX Stockyards

May - Singleton Council called for quotations for the concept design
